Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Marisol. I have been married for 13 years I have three daughters, Paloma 10, Marisol 7 and Mariana 5. I began EPCC in spring 2000 and I had to stop in 2002 due to maternity leave. I continued to pursue my career by returning spring 2005 I will complete my associate’s degree with the assistant of the Women’s Fund and their support has alleviated my financial burden. This allowed me to focus on my studies.

What made you decide to pursue your degree?
I decided to study Speech Pathologies because of my second daughters’ speech problems she developed when she was young. We were on a waiting list for two months due to the shortage of bilingual speech therapist in El Paso.

What are some of the challenges you have faced?

My biggest obstacles was to learn English with full comprehension and still be a full time mother

What has your experience working with the Women’s Fund been like?

Knowing that there are women in the community that help one another at their time of need even though they may not personally know them.

Do you have any words of inspiration to other women who might be facing struggles in their lives?

Believe in yourself and your dreams will come true and become an inspiration to your children.
