Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Justine. I am finishing my last semester at UTEP and will be graduating in December of 2009 with a degree in Biology with a Biomedical Concentration and a minor in Chemistry.

What made you decide to pursue your degree?

I have always had an interest in science since I was in elementary school. As I have grown older I have developed a large interest in the medical field, and want to pursue a career in it.

What are some of the challenges you have faced?

The biggest challenge I have faced is definitely financially. Paying tuition and other costs such as for books has been hard, causing me to work two jobs for a while during my schooling. The excessive working has made school a little more difficult, but has not affected my grades what-so-ever.

What has your experience working with the Women’s Fund been like?

Working with the Women’s Fund has been a great experience. I appreciate all of the help it has given me and am sure it will continue to make a difference in the lives of women in the future.

Do you have any words of inspiration to other women who might be facing struggles in their lives?

I would definitely say to never give up on your dreams. There are people or organizations out there willing to help, so stay strong and keep pursuing what you want to do. It will all pay off in the end.
