Fair Wages for Women in Texas
The Wage Gap is a real issue in Texas, especially for those women working along the U.S. Mexico Border. According to Institute for Women Policy & Research, Women in Texas earn just 70.7% of what White Men earn. Women of color fare worse, with Hispanic women earning only 46.3% and African American Women 61.0%. With 38,000 single mothers in El Paso, access to fair wages is an important economic issue. Fortunately the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Paycheck Fairness Act on July 31, 2008. This is one small, but important step towards equal pay.

What are your thoughts on this issue? As a woman, do you feel that you are paid the same wage as your male counterpart?
