Our mission
We’re a community of women who want to make a difference in the Austin area through high-impact and lifelong giving. We work to create a tradition of giving by encouraging a lifetime commitment to active philanthropy and by passing this tradition onto the next generation.
Our goals
We hope to count 500 women as Impact Austin members by the time we celebrate our fifth anniversary. We want to calculate $1.5 million in giving as one of our accomplishments during those five years, and we hope to call ourselves the most cost-efficient grant maker in the Austin area. |

This web site contains thousands of pages of recommendations and advice from the Berkeley Parents Network, a parent-to-parent email network for the community of parents in the Berkeley, California area. Formerly called "UCB Parents", the network is run by a group of volunteer parents in their "spare" time. We send out 10-12 email newsletters each week to more than 16,000 local parents. We've been doing it since 1993. Many busy parents have taken the time to enlighten and inform us with their suggestions, their wisdom, and their experience, archived here for all who need it. Please help yourself and use it in the spirit of sharing! |

You know the old saying: Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. But if you teach a man to fish, he'll eat for a lifetime. In the world of women's funds, the saying goes like this:
If you give a woman a fish, she will feed her family first and might possibly go hungry.
If you teach a woman to fish, she will feed her family until outside forces take away her fishing rights or pollute the lake.
If you help a woman buy the lake, she will feed her family, keep the lake environmentally clean and have something to pass on to future generations. We support women and girls who are ready to buy the lake. Join us! |

From Victim to Survivor...to Active Citizen
Women for Women International mobilizes women to change their lives by bringing a holistic approach to addressing the unique needs of women in conflict and post-conflict environments.
We begin by working with women who may have lost everything in conflict and often have nowhere else to turn. Participation in our one-year program launches women on a journey from victim to survivor to active citizen. We identify services to support graduates of the program as they continue to strive for greater social, economic and political participation in their communities. |

GlobalGiving was founded by two former World Bank executives who decided to use the Internet to create a highly efficient marketplace. The GlobalGiving platform enables more funding to reach projects throughout the globe, and, at the same time, provides a more transparent, engaging way for donors to give.
Because we enable donors to give directly to projects, they know exactly where their money is going. Donors can see progress updates on most projects as funding is received and goals are met. Donations made through GlobalGiving are higher impact because:
Money is going directly to a well-defined project versus supporting general operating expenses
Projects on globalgiving.com have exposure to thousands of donors, enabling us to aggregate multiple sources of funding for each project
Many projects on globalgiving.com are located in the developing world where a little money goes a long way |

Why Faith and Feminism?
Why are the energies of faith and feminism at war in our culture? In 2004, Atria published Helen LaKelly Hunt’s book, Faith and Feminism: A Holy Alliance, which helps analyzes the rift between these energies.
Faith and Feminism has been the vision of The Sister Fund, a private foundation for women, for many years. Their executive director, Kanyere Eaton believes, “the women’s movement is not complete without women of faith who have a social justice consciousness.”
